Gabby is NACHO!!!!

So G refused to nap on Sunday. We let here hang out in her room, quietly for 2+ hours. We thought how much damage could she do... I mean, last week when I did this, she emptied the bottom three drawers of her dresser, removed her pull-ups, peed on a pair of shorts, and put on three pairs of underwear. That's nothing compared to midday peace for a few hours.

We went up to get her this sunday only to find a mask of Balmex (bum-bum cream) over her eyes. B laughed so hard she almost peed. I couldn't help but smile. It was hilarious. But how and why did this happen. I've been perplexed for a few days now. She obviously blindly nabbed the cream from her top drawer. But why did she cover her eyes?

This morning, G shed some light on the topic. We were getting ready for school, and she asks me, "Where's Nacho?" I looked at her. Knowing that we had fun saying, "NACHOOOOO!" after seeing the DVD box of Nacho libre at her Aunt Sally and Uncle Shaun's house, I said, "It's at Auntie Sally and Unc-" But she cut me off with, "Gabby's Nacho!" Huh?

I asked her, again. She told me that she put the cream on for a mask to be Nacho. Funny kid, eh?

Birthday Activities

As y'all know by now, today is Gabby's Birthday!! We spent the early morning watching various websites singing the happy birthday song, while chomping on some matzah. Then it was off to school. She brought some blueberry muffins for a snacktime party, and came away with a little Dora doll from her teacher. She went home with B after lunch, and spent the afternoon with her mom picking out a birthday cake and playing. I came home from work a little early, and we had a good dinner, then cake, and a couple of presents.

Those are the facts... Now for the funniest moment for me. I occasionally, call people and have Gabby chat with them while we're having a meal, and today was no different. Gabby requested people, and I dialed. Well, one call was really special tonight. We called uncle Yaneev. He wished her a happy birthday to which Gabby replied, "I'm busy eating a tomato." I think I was crying, I was laughing so hard. This was an original fully formed sentance, without prompting of any kind. On her secoond birthday, she fully expressed her thoughts and feelings in a fully formed sentence. Awesome.

And now, as promised, here are some pictures, and a video to boot...

Happy Birthday Gabby!!!!

On this day in history, 2005, the world became a better place. My sweet angel was born. Gabby is two years old today, and I think it's a fine occasion to explore a list of other folks that share her birthday...

Richard Dean Anderson - Macgyver
Tiffany-Amber Thiessen - Kelly (from Saved by the Bell)
Edouard Manet - Artist
John Hancock - Insurance agent and declaration signer

Thank you for making the last two years so very great. Here's to a special smunchkin and her funny faces...

Gabby keeps amazing me

For those of y'all that didn't know, B is out of town this weekend. As I did when she went out of town about a year ago, I decided this would be a fine time to change things up... Last time, I ended the bottle. This time, it's the pacifier.

So far so good. I've reasoned with her that it's because she's a big girl, sleeping in a big girl bed, and going potty like a big girl, that she can also do without the pcifier. She'd only been using it to fall asleep, but it was time to let it go, especially with a new baby coming.

But that's not what I'm writing about. I needed to unload the trunk this morning from yesterday's Costco excursion, and Gabby decided to lend a hand. I gave her one small boxy item to carry, but she wanted to do more. She walked over to the trunk and grabbed a plastic bag full of odds and ends. then retruned to her boxy thing, and tried to carry both. No can do. So she put the bag down and opened it. Next she repeatedly tried to place the boxy thing into the bag. It wasn't easy. After a few tries she gave up. But she had another idea. She looped the bag on her arm like a purse, and then bent over to carry the boxy thing with both hands! Viola! I just stood there silently and witnessed the entire affair. She rocks.

Later, y'all...

So I had an idea...

I'm sitting here in Austin, on a Saturday night, holding down the fort, and I decided to check out some of our sister blogs... Here's what I found...

Luke's blog hasn't been updated since the Patriots weren't favored to go all the way. No excuse.

Martin's going to be a big brother.

The Weiss blog is lagging, but hey...I know for a fact that there's been a lot of activity in that house - in anticipation of the coming addition.

Lily's dancing. Kind of resembles Luke. Might they have a future?

While the link to Vincent's blog from Luke's doesn't work...ours does. Anyway, I wish them the best on their hard drive issue...may the karmic winds blow your way.

Reno's got some new pictures up...and check out this family portrait. Are we ready for a baby again?? Check out Dylan. Baby's are so tiny. Yikes!

The Rotten Rabbi posted a hilarious video. Thanks, Yaneev.

And then I returned to our blog... First thing I notice is that I'm going to need to update the counter for Gabby soon. She hits the 2 yr old mark on Tuesday. Yay Gabby. It's crazy when you think about how much she's grown from year 0:

To year 1:

To year 2:

And lastly, I also noticed that I'm going to need to change the other counter on our blog... B's about ready to pop. I've gotta get in the zone. I'm about to be a Dad again!!!

Night night, y'all.
