Back to the doctor...

We went to the pediatrician today for Gabby's second visit. She's doing well. Her umbilical cord stump is getting ready to fall off. It's starting to get crusty, and stiff, and floppy. Soon.

She's sleeping now and I'm bushed.

She beginning to suck her fingers

Hello everyone. Sometimes I wonder if anyone is even reading this stuff. But alas, I soldier on. My little girl will have something fun to read one day.

I took a half day off from work today, and spent the afternoon watching my little girl suck her little fingers... Up until now I've only seen Gabby suck her whole hand. But it appears that she may be beginning to suck her fingers individually. Super cool.

Lots of stuff to talk about!!!

Well, Gabby is still wonderful - only more so today, than yesterday.

Let's get to the point. I forgot to mention that a few days ago Gabby began crying/whining in a new way. She has found the ability from deep within to somehow work around her former obstacles. You see, in the past her cries would stop when she got a finger to suck. Stick a finger in - crying stops. That simple. Not so anymore. Now Gabby can cry while she sucks. It's amazing. She's outwitted us.

On another note, we gave Gabby her second bath at home tonight. I think I saw her first tear. It was only a slight smidgen of a tear, but a tear nonetheless. It was her right eye - and so sweet. This little girl has got my heart.

This morning I emptied the diaper pail...see these diapers!! Crazy.

We also had a little tummy time today. I laid her on her belly and watched her squirm. She started pushing with her feet, like crawling. So I gave her some resistance on each foot, and there she went...I think she pushed her herself all the way across the blanket on the floor - and in the process she dragged her face and arms as she went. WHOOPS!!!

Gabby's now been asleep since I got home. So no new pictures today. Sorry folks.

I'm heading to bed now.

I'd also like to thank everyone that has given us their support and offers of encouragement. We're sure that within a few weeks/months Gabby will sleep more, and we'll get more into the swing of things. But honestly, it's not nearly as bad as I thought it would be right now, and I'm not in a hurry for Gabby to grow up. I love to watch her grow.

Getting chubby

I don't know if y'all are able to see from the photos, but my little girl is putting on a bit of chub! She is changing everyday. I went to work today for the first time in her life, and when I came home she was chubbier than when I left!

In other news, I've developed a non-bottle method of feeding her milk. I use a shot glass to gently give her some milk, then a follow it up with my pinky. My pinky hurts now. Sore pinky.

Also, when I was holding her this evening, I think she had some gas. But that's not all. With the gas came what I perceived was a precursor to a smile. It was different than the one I saw a few days back, since her face has changed. It was adorable too. Go figure.

Gabby's shaping up nicely!

I noticed this evening, that Gabby's head is normal shaped now! Her birth left her with a bit of a cone, as you could see in the early photos, but I think she's rounded out now. Rockin!

Tomorrow, I'm going into work, so expect somewhat less photos/updates... but we'll see.

She slept a bunch last night

Gabby had a good night last night. We fed her and went to bed around 7:30pm. I guess that's what new parents do. She slept for some good stretches, but sometimes it's probably too long. When she does sleep too long, like 4-5 hours (unheard of for a newborn. Thank you Miracle Blanket and the 5 S's for the book "Happiest Baby on the Block!") she can't seem to cope with her hunger and goes into a feeding frenzy. She shakes her head frantically and tries to suck anything that comes close to her mouth. Such a cutey.

I went to CVS today to develop some photos for me at work, and the grandparents... She is so cute. I love her.
