How could I say no?

As some of you out in the blogosphere are aware, G wakes up from naps in a very fragile emotional state, maybe 85% of the time. We try and cull this bying leaving the house as soon as we can after she awakens. Well this past sunday was no different.

G woke up around 3:20 and I informed her that we are all ready to head over to HEB - one of her favorite destinations. First on her agenda was to change her clothes. She scrapped her morning outfit for a more festive orange number. How could I say no?

We got her changed and headed for the door, with list and coupons in hand (we play the grocery game now). Gabby looked at me, and with big brown eyes said, "Dad, I don't want to go to HEB. I want to play markers upstairs." How could I say no?

Basia and Ellie did the shopping on Monday.

Sisters forever

Gabby has really been a great big sister. She often repeats our phrases when Ellie needs a little love. Can you imagine how precious it is to witness Gabby walking over to a fussing Ellie and rubbing her head, while saying, "It's okay, Elsabells. Don't worry, honey bunny. Gabby's here."

Seriously...it's awesome.

A Beautiful Texas Saturday

Last Saturday, we spent a glorious day in south Austin with the girls' Aunt Sally, and Uncle Shaun. I think it was the first time that Ellie had visited them, and definitely the first time that Gabby napped on the futon (and not in the pack n' play).

Y'know, thinking back to when I was a kid, it was always a fun adventure to visit my aunts and uncles. I never knew what to expect. Would I find some new hiding place in their basement? Would the neighbor come over and bring the dog? Would we get Chinese and fill my tummy. Whatever it was, a trip to the aunt and Uncle's house was great. I'm starting to think that G and I have this in common.

Updated Blog

Y'all might notice some long overdue changes to the layout of our internet home. Small, subtle, needed upgrades. enjoy.

Later.

Her Beauty Grows

With each passing day, it seems that our little Ellie Jane has become a bigger part of this family. She's really developing a look all her own. She's got a dimple on her left cheek when she "smiles" with gas. Her smile also reveals that that her upper lip is thinner than her lower. She's got beautiful ears, and her hair is wacky.

I do need to amend an earlier post. I have lately become even more engaged with my new princess, as she has become more engaged with us. What does this mean, you wonder? Let me explain. In her first few weeks, E was an especially easy baby. These days, she needs some coddling. I am not complaining, mind you. simply, with the higher demand, comes increased bonding. This may be an innate survival reflex. Regardless, I love her more everyday.

Now, some funnies.

Anytime that I happen to be carrying both my girls, Gabby declares, "Two Girls!! One. Two." Awesome.

There is a house on the way to G's school that consistently places large inflatable statues in their yard to celebrate holidays. well, for St. Patrick's Day, they placed a large Leprechaun in the yard. Gabby loves to point these figures out, as they come and go. Suddenly, G started asking me, B and a visiting Babci, "what does a leopard say?" We'd all respond with a roar or growl of some sort... until one day, G saw the Leprechaun and roared... I got it. she's been asking about the leprechaun. Whoops. I've since told her he says, "Hee, hee, hee, hee."

Last one, I promise...

Gabby's been saying, "see you later, crocodile!" HA!

Ok, one more.

A few weeks ago, we were giving Ellie a bath, and realized we had too much water in her tub. Gabby heard this, raced across the house and returned with a large plastic cup from her tub, with which we could remove some water. "Here you go." G rocks! (have I already shared that story?)

Lates, kids.

The New American Collection of Gabby Poetry

Gabby's got a shmata on her head
Gabby's got a shmata on her head
Gabby's got a shmata on her head
She keeps it there all day.

Where Gabby rolls, double fistin' is a way of life, yo.

Definition: Double-Fisting: The art and science of holding and consuming two drinks at once in order to get drunk more efficiently

When the world is looking down, Gabby's looking up. No water in the eyes. All smiles!

Rudy's on a Sunday morning. Breakfast Tacos. Uncle Jason. Saba. Could life get any better? Wait - I forgot about the Jacuzzi for your hands. Life just got better.
